when using live plants what should be done to them before they
are used with chams.Should the leaves be washed?or change the
soil to make sure there were no pesticides or perilite added to it? any info would greatly be appreciated.

Hi, YES, wash the plant well, I usually put them in the tub and use the shower gun/ hand held, and squirt every part of plant.

And I do change the soil also, just to be on the safe side as you do not want them to eat any perlite. That should do the trick
