Anyone raising Blaberus species as a Feeders?

wALDOsLACK Aug 08, 2003 12:01 PM

The reason I ask is I'm trying to find out how to tell the difference between male & female Blaberus roaches. Are Blaberus the same as Lobsters in the rear of the abdomen? On the underside at the end: Males () , Females ( ) ?

Can anyone help? I've posted on several other boards to no avail.
This board is so active!

Thanks in advance.

Hi WW,

Which do you have?
There are Blaberus giganteus, Blaberus discoidales, and Blaberus craniifer. For pictures and size comparison, cut and paste this link into your browser:

This site should be able to answer most questions.

Hope this helps,

I have all three species Plus one other blaberus species.

They should be all the same right? As far as sexing goes.

WW,

Q: how do you sex the Blaberus?

A: Count the segments on the ventral surface of the male and female abdomen. The number of visible segments is higher in the male than the female. Also the females posterior abdomen is broader and more rounded than the male.

Hope this helps

I was beginning to think that I'd get no answer.
So in reality it's just like a lobster roach. Look at the underside & spacing near the end.

Thanks for helping out Reptyls. Your allright by me!

God speed! Ww
