I would like someone to direct me somewhere on the net where I can find information on the locust schistocerca gregaria.I know it is not a popular feeder and I don't know why.Does anyone know?Almost all english breeders have them on their stock list...

Here in Canada from what I have heard, we are not allowed to keep/raise any insect that if free could reproduce and survive here and cause a problem with the environment.

I don't know if that is the reason that people in other countries don't use some insects as feeders or not.

You said you wanted to be re-directed to sites with information on "schistocerca gregaria"...do you mean care or just general information?

I meant care in order to be in good condition when I feed it to my reptiles. It would be nice if you direct me somewhere where it is discussed as a feeder insect.
Thanks a lot

I live in N.Y. and in the summer I catch bugs for my lizards. I don't know bugs well so I'm not sure what the bugs I catch are. There are 3 different kinds and I always assumed one was a grasshopper, one a locust, and one a katydid. I fed them all the same stuff I feed my crickets. Collard, mustard, dandilion greens etc. All my lizards prefer these bugs to crickets. Unfortunately they're seasonal here. I believe they're in the cricket family too. Hope this helps. I don't have any links.

There isn't much out there on this species...
Scan down to grasshoppers and it starts at the second paragraph...
