Iguana Morphs?

bsleeper Dec 14, 2006 11:50 PM

I am a owner of a few ball pythons and i am looking into getting a iguana but a few of my friends already have green iguanas. I was wondering if there is any other morphs of green iguanas that i could get. There are alot of morphs of ball pythons so i figured it didnt hurt to ask.

i know that there is a nice line of red iguanas. they are an amazing bright red color except on their bellies which are still green. the original breeder, if i heard correctly, made a deal with petco a few years back and petco had a limited number of juvis available for $99. i know their was one in my town, it was gorgeous. now that those select few have been sold i have seen them on the ks classified for upwards of $500! although i have also seen them for about $200. they are very nice looking but i would suggest adoption. why contribute to people that are breeding and selling igs when there are already too many that need homes.just my personal opinion, i have had my fair share of rescue iggies at my house.

There is a pretty red line, but they are pretty hard to come by. Also Great White Reptiles sells albino and het iguanas, but they are a few thousand dollars. But, adoption is ALWAYS best for new ig owners. Besides, the big males turn orange in the breeding season and look beautiful! If youre looking for a cheap morph, your outta luck. Just adopt. Seriously. The rescues already get rid of parasites and diseases anyway, also you can get them at any age. Well, good luck if you get one! Make sure to check out my other Jeff Corwin pics and Merry Christmas!

As all the others have mentioned, the easiest morph to get hold of is a red. I got one over a year ago and he's doing pretty good. Seems hardy and is growing like a weed. I'm not aware of any health problems with these guys.

When I first got him he had a green belly. All the green is gone...solid red (more like an orange color now).

Trying to get in on the ground floor of a new Morph market? LOL, and here I come on this board so I don't have to hear the (morph market) sky is falling every other post As they said the reds are really nice (unless you arn't used to them and mistake it for a "petstore abused" animal)!
