anybody remember albino scarlet Kings?

DMong Dec 15, 2006 03:06 AM

I'm curious to know if anybody has seen (or heard) about any of the albino Scarlet Kings surfacing in the hobby?.....I was at the Tampa expo in Florida back in 1996 or 97, and a guy had one adult albino "elapsoides" that he caught while raking leaves in his yard !!!, I saw the snake with my own eyes, or I probably wouldn't have believed it myself at the time. He had a few "het albino" hatchlings from this mating for sale, and I was seriously thinking about buying some. Well, after thinking about some other projects I had going then, I bought some other awesome animals instead.........does anybody know what ever became of that albino Scarlet King bloodline??............Doug

I remember that one as well.I havn't seen hide nor hare of any hets or poss hets or visuals at all.The hets probably died because they are pretty tough thats for sure.
I think Tony D had one a few years ago and was working with it.I knew of one other w/c about ten years ago but it got cooked in its rack.

I haven't seen any amel easterns either and I know there were several some years back.

also can't find the Jim Kane "undescribed milks" either.

even anery celaenops (hobbs county) are really far and few between.

I know all the anery taylori are gone.I had a killer w/c female for years but she would never give me a clutch. She finally died.
There was also another group of them that were generic but were taylori. They were all stollen from my friend Leah at the San Diego show in (97) along with many other rare snakes. The Jeef was actually stolen while we were at Dinner and they found the jeef a week later over the border with a sheriff's sticker on the door.snakes were probably drown or eatin????

p.s. also were are the anery and patternless amuara that the collatas had?

thanks for the feedback on the "albino" Scarlets. What a shame that there's none around, I'm sure it's like you said, because they (especially the young)can be very problematic........too bad all Scarlet Kings can't be like a few I've had in the past,(adults, not hatchlings) I've actually had a few that would zip out of the "hide box" and jet up to the top of the cage to snatch a pinkie from my hand !!!, how's nice is that !!!!!.................Happy Holidays, ........Doug

There was one found, a male I believe, a few months back here in FL but I can't remember just where... I contacted the owner and asked about it. They wanted mega bucks for the snake and I haven't heard another peep.
Unfortunately, I think we all know what happens to many albinos of hard to keep species. (why do they often fall into the hands of non/novice keepers?)
I hope this one is still around. I had the feeling they knew how to care for it.

I'll try and find my correspondence...
Here's a pic they sent me.

The good news, is that this particular albino Scarlet (image) is indeed alive and well, and too, is in the hands of a VERY responsible keeper. I have seen the animal on numerous occasions, and it is thriving and quite breedable.

However, bad news being that I'm not certain if this project will begin this season or the next, for the owner does have several other matters of precedence that might restrict what time he has to devote to such a matter.

That's all I'm at liberty to say for now, though I will drop in with any updates or further news.

Happy New Year!

Trevor
