Okay experts, what's the deal with Dixon's Milks. Is there a reason that they are not available? I've spent all morning scouring the net and can't find anyone that is working with them, nor any particular reason why?
Love to get my hands on one, but until then I'll just keep enjoying my annulata. Thanks in advance

you spent all morning looking?LOL......I have spent 15 years looking for Dixoni in the states and in Europe.
They were fairly common in the mid 80s to early 90s.But there was no real big interest in them and while talking with all the old timers that had them they all kinda have the same story. They were not as atractive as siniloans or campbelli so they all ditched there breeders here and there.

I acyually had a chance to buy 2.2 c/b from England in (95) at the San Diego show. They weren't very atractive (but they were full blown dixoni)and by the end of the show the guy had sold them to get this,a guy from England???LOL.............

So,I kick myself a thousand times cause I have never seen another single animal available since then.

Here's a pic of one in the field.Photo courtesy of Robert Hansen.

Thanks for the response Shannon! Sure would like to understand why they never caught on? To me, they appear to have everything going for them.

I feel your pain. I was lucky to see a live one back in the early eighties at Ed Chapman's place. Looked to me like a black-headed scarlet king, Very Nice.

Haven't seen one since.

Perty snake. Let's us all go down south o' da border and ketch us a few. Just kidding... There's a guy from the L.A. Zoo that came and spoke @ our herp club meeting about herping in Latin America and the stories he told about drug smuggler villages and Mexican marijuanan farmers armed to the teeth down there were enough to dissuade me from attempting to collect down there --- not to mention the laws...but it is a nice looking animal!
