My new FWC

coachwhipmaster Dec 16, 2006 02:06 PM

I got a new FWC... I'll post some pics in the next couple of days. He is CB 06 and still very small. I put him in a huge cage and am not sure he likes it... . Is it normal for this species to burrow alot? Every time I want to take him out for handling, I have to sift through a ton of bedding to find him. He's got a really good temperment so far, he fully hooded once and it was because my dog butted in when I was handling him. Awesome snake.

I also wanted to thank all of the people that have answered my questions about this species in the last few months, and special shout-out to rearfang... gratsi.

Usually with babies, its my experience, that smaller "containers" with the appropriate hides/humidity/temps, is much better. Almost all baby snakes will hide, I guess being at the bottom of the foodchain will do that to you :D.

On the other hand, if he is feeding and behaving as a FWC should i cant see anuthing wrong with keeping him, the way you are right now.

Good luck with him

Yes, it's perfectly normal for them to burrow. Congrats and I hope you enjoy him!

Small snakes will feel alot more comftorble in a small cage. Being in a huge tanke will make him feel in-secure.

Also, I dont know how long you have had him bit your supposed to wait atleast 1 week befor you start handleing your new snake.
