Hi all...........

MichelleRogers Dec 16, 2006 10:11 PM

I am very new to pits but I am learning they are very addictive and are quickly becoming one of my favorites. I have been reading on this forum for awhile and decided to share some pic's of my Christmas snakes. Santa was very good to come early with these, they are southern pines from Gregg Feaster and I have fell in love with them. The first 2 photo's are of the female.
thank you for looking,

Good lookin' Pines. What type of color morph is that? How old are they?

MichelleRogers Dec 17, 2006 02:39 PM

I bought them as albino's but a few people that has seen them call them amel's so since this is my first pair I don't know, I am new to pit's. Sorry, I just knew the color of them got me. The funny thing is I have never been an albino or morph person until i seen these and I was hooked. They were hatched 9-11-06.

Hey Michelle,

Here is a pic ( bad one though ) of one of your snake's siblings. I received this female albino southern pine recently from Gregg and couldn't be happier! He is awesome to deal with!

We are all in trouble if Michelle gathers the same quality of pits as Thayeri! Welcome and great looking southerns!
Todd Hughes

MichelleRogers Dec 17, 2006 03:05 PM

Thank you for the welcome and compliments both on my thayeri and pits. I just hope the pit addiction isn't as bad as thayeri.
I like the way the pits know you are in the room no need to rattle the cage so to speak they are aware of my every move which is cool and different my thayeri just lay there and wait. Not these guys they are up and looking around all the time.. Love it!
take care,

Wow Michelle, those are stunning!
Congrats.

MichelleRogers Dec 17, 2006 03:12 PM

I really love them, and i like the fact they both have different colors, one pink and one orange. I hope to get a pair of normals next year. Maybe one patternless and one patterned, see they are addicting I am planning next year already..lol..
take care

Hi Michelle

Nice to see you on this side of the forums. Very nice pick-up! I'm glad to hear that you got these from Gregg also. He has some nice stuff. I'm sure you'll get addicted to these guys as I did. They're totally different compared to the thayeri we keep. Keep the pics coming. Happy holidays.

You remeber the last time we spoke I had the bulls, now i have added more. You were right they are very cool and addicting. I needed a forum jump, i love the mexicana forum but needed a change. Thank you for the compliments. I think thayeri will always be one of my favorites but I really enjoy working with the pits, I do hope to add more. I find myself daily picking them up and just being so fascinated with there attitudes, the male is finally in my hand and not hanging off of it so we have progress..lol... I find them really enjoyable. I will try and get some pics of the rest.
good to hear from you and Happy Holidays to you also.

Hi Michelle

Change of scenery is always good. We all need that once in a while. Hope those bulls that you showed me are picking up their colors quickly (they were already nice as hatchlings anyway). I'm sure that they and the southerns you just picked up will turn very nice as well. They are definitely more active and aware like you mentioned. I'm glad you caught the pituophis fever since I still believe they are very under appreciated colubrids. I caught the pituophis fever when after getting the stillwaters years ago and now 1/3 (maybe more) of my collection are pituophis. A lot of people are still missing out on keeping these very interesting animals. Hopefully they will gain more popularity once individuals like yourself starts helping to spread the word. Not to mention that a new pituophis book is in the works. I'm sure that will help also. Talk to you later.

I am glad to hear there is a book underway, you will have to tell me when it comes out. Who is writing it?
My red bulls are getting redder with each shed. They are all in blue right now and once they make this shed I will post photo's. The red on the sides seems to be getting more pronouced.
I do think the pit's are under rated. I do beleive that once there is more info on them and people see they do make great pets you will find that they pick up in popularity. I beleive this forum helps too, since the regulars on here are always giving such helpful info and great photo's.
take care,
