Blue tongue skink

roknhearsegrl Dec 17, 2006 04:00 PM

I was wondering what your opinions are on the actual scientific name of my Blue tongue skink. I have two different ones in mind but would like to know for sure what she is.

Thanks in advance

From what i can tell from your picture I think it is a Merauke Blue Tongued Skink. It is also very close to the Indonesian blue tongue but can't tell from the picture some of the distinguising features. Read the descriptions of both these two skinks at:

www.bluetongueskinks.net/

Some features that will tell these two skinks apart will be easy to spot if you read the descriptions and can look for them on your skink. I hope this has been of help.

Thank you VERY much for that response! I looked her over after reading about both of those and I think you hit the nail right on the head. I really appreciated that website. I hadn't come past it before and it helped. Kudos to you!

compare his tail length to overall body length. I believe Merauke have the super-long tails.
