Dwarf Burmese copulated

Jon43 Dec 18, 2006 12:13 AM

Went to check on my wild caught pair of Dwarf Burmese at 11 p.m. on 12/13/06 and around 12:00 midnight on 12/14/06 and they were locked up both nights. I received them around 8/04. The female was thinner than a normal burmese the same size and was 4 1/2 feet long. The male was even thinner and was 3 1/2 feet long. Two years later she is 6 1/2 feet and the male is 4 1/2 feet. She has thickened up and is the same thickness as a normal burmese her size. The male is still lean even though he was fed nearly as much as the female. I am crossing my fingers on this one.

Nice one jon,

Any more info? Do you house the pair together permanently or have they been introduced to one another for breeding purposes?

Do you know what age the snakes are? Given your sizes I would suspect that they are probably from 2001 or 2002 - would you agree?

Also have you cooled them or prepared them for breeding at all?

Interesting to see your comments on the animals body size. I have a pair of CB 2003 animals - the female is about 4.5 - 5ft, the male approximately 4ft. I would agree that the female is about the size that you would expect for a normal burm, possibly even slightly larger in the body, the male is much slimmer though.

Fingers are crossed

Carl

Hello Carl,

I keep the pair seperated and introduce the male to the female.

They are currently kept in a lidless system in Sterilite 52 quart
plastc tubs.

I am currently in the cooling cycle

As far as their age, I can only take an educated guess. I would agree with you that they were probably hatched around 2000-2002.

I was told and have heard that the females of the the Dwarf Burmese were thinner and I found this not to be the case with mine.

Where do you reside Carl? e-mail me at knead@adelphia.net so we can exhange information.

Do me a favor and give me a call or drop me an email when you get fertile eggs. I'd be interested in following the development of your clutch/dwarf babies.
