Hatchling Rhino covering food

imindawoods1 Dec 18, 2006 09:26 AM

Hi everyone,
We have two cyclura, both hatchlings. One is a lewisi, the other a rhino iguana. Our Rhino insists on covering his food with the cypress we have on the bottom of the vivarium and no matter where we place it, it gets covered! He eats right now secretly, but appears to be gaining weight. Any clues as to what this behavior signifies? Does he hate the food or what?
Any ideas greatly appreciated....
Carol

No idea. never used cypress ground cover, but suspect that it is not a good cover if it omits any wood odor at all. I preferred newspaper or fake grass matts.
