Possible new Western Mutation

Horridus Dec 18, 2006 11:21 AM

This animal was hatched from two normal Westerns by a gentleman in Alabama. Most of the eggs went bad but this little female did hatch out. I think there may have been 1-2 others hatch but they were normal in appearance. It is very similar to the "Lavender" mutation produced in Cornsnakes even has the same dark ruby red eye. I thought it may be a T amel but that would not account for the coloration being that different. Since "Lavender" originated as a recessive trait in itself and if memory serves a WC animal was involved in the original breeding producing it, this might in fact be the same mutation. Beautiful, whatever it is, don't you think? I apologize for the quality of the photos, I was catching myself spending more time staring at the snake then paying attention to lighting & settings on the camera.

Who is the person that has it? Is he a reptile breeder or just a person that got some unexpected eggs from his snakes? Can I get an email for him to ask him some questions about this snake? What other info can you give on this snake as far as its age and feeding habits and so on? Thanks.
