Diet Change

CMihm Dec 18, 2006 04:59 PM

I am having trouble getting my baby Dwarf Caiman to switch diets so I decided to consult the experts. I would really like to get the little guy eating this Mazuri Crocodilian diet I have but so far he hasn't shown any interest whatsoever and the pellet dissolve into the water after about half an hour which probably doesn't help things. So I'm just looking for any tips you other guys might have.
Thanks-Cody Mihm

In our experience dwarfs are very difficult to get on the Mazuri diet. I would like to hear from others and their experiences with this species and Mazuri's croc diet.

I have a small Dwarf Caiman (P. Palpebrosus) that I have been keeping now for about 3 or 4 years, it loves the Mazuri croc chow!! Not quit sure how I got it eating it to begin with but it loves it now and when I new specimens that are similar in size to this Dwarf I will usually house them together for a while and the Dwarf shows the new specimens that the Mazuri is food inwhich gets the new specimens eating the Mazuri also.

I have been trying to get some adult Dwarf Crocodiles (O. t. tetraspis) to eat the Mazuri, but no luck so far!

well Atleast now I know its not impossible. Until now I hadn't found anybody who even had a Dwarf on the Mazuri stuff. Thanks for the encouragement! -Cody Mihm
