Prepare Food

CasualKarma Dec 19, 2006 10:00 AM

I've recently acquired an Egyptian hatchling and I have a couple questions.

I know some people feed their Uros a prepared food, Iguana pellets, or Sulcata. I was wondering what everyone's opinion on the best prepared food to feed it would be. Is there a certain age they need to be before I add this element to it's diet? Are there any Pros and Cons I need to know about?

I'm confused by what you mean by "prepared food." Do you mean commercially prepared Uro diet? I didn't know there was one.
In any case, you're best to stay with the tried & proven greens, seeds, beans, peas, flowers, etc. It needs to be as varied as possible & I wouldn't recommend relying too much on anything out of a can, bag or box. Having said that, parakeet food is high on the list of seed bowl items for us.
Merry Christmas,

I'll have to agree there, I don't think anyone will "recommend" a pellet or prepared food as you say. Nothing is better than the fresh stuff and most of it is readily available year round.
