Diet and BMI etc.

I've been looking at lots of pictures of P. regius and other species. Some of them, not from this site necessarily, look quite obese. When is a P. regius considored "fat"? Has anybody ever come up with a body mass index for P. regius or any other snakes? Have there been any studies or observations about disorders stemming from over feeding? Do snakes ever have problems like high cholesterol or arterial sclerosis?

...obesity is a relative term when it comes to snakes. There has not been a BMI developed for snakes, much less BP's. As a rule females used in breeding should be well filled out and males should be somewhat lean but certianly not thin. No evidence that BP's suffer from problems relating to high cholesterol, such as atherosclerosis. Scott J. Michaels DVM
