young CB tiger female

She has quickly become my favorite snake. I've had her less than 3 weeks and I don't even get the hood display any more. She has no inclination to bite and once out of her enclosure for a minute she really calms down. I really think as more captive bred spilotes become available the popularity will grow.

Just like perching from a branch. I love how these guys just watch you and follow any movements you make. I won't suggest they're smarter than most colubrids (lets face it, describing a snake as smart is a stretch at best), but they certainly are more "aware" of their surroundings than say a kingsnake.

Gorgeous youngster you have there! I just got two little males (see my post below) less than a week ago and am completely smitten with them. I agree with the awareness statement as my two little guys appear very confident and alert without being aggressive or defensive. I have kept all kinds of snakes over the past 30 years, and by far the most "intelligent" have been retics, but I think these guys will end up rivaling them as they grow and mature. Very easy to handle as well. Can't wait to attempt breeding them in a few years. Keep the pics of that girl coming!

I presently only have a female. I'd like to pick up a real nice CB male down the road. That one there looks real nice. I like the yellow highlights in the black bands.
