Anyone with Boaphiles?

drasticplastic Dec 19, 2006 06:50 PM

I have a few boaphiles now and I want to get a stack pack. I'm debating whether or not to get the 12 inch tall or the 18 inch tall cages. I really only need 4 more cages at this point, but my main concern is what's easier for me. I would think the 18in cages would be easier to clean since they have more head room to get to the back. Also for the big females, I would think it would be easier to pull them out when necessary. What do you all think about it? Experience?

I have the 11.5" cages and they work great for housing boas. never tried to breed my boas in one though, I have "special" cages for breeding. I am 6'1" so reaching the back is np

The 18 is more of a waist of space,UNLESS you pay extra and have Jeff install a shelf. The snakes love it,at least mine seem too.Hope that helps.

Nice Stack...Kinda good Christmas colors!! It really grows on you when you look at them...I think I like the color...anyway...I was wondering is that cord going into the lower window the probe? If so is that something you have to have it that way? Or can you insert through the back? Also is it best to have the probe on the bottom cage for that type of stack? Thanks Derek...Take care Bro!

I put the probe in that way just to test how hot the temps would get. You can drill a hole in the back or on the side. I just went and check the temps with my temp gun and from bottom to top there's a 2 degree difference. Also, I tend to hang my probe a few inches above the heat from the side. Oh by the way I will use helix controls with the old style temp drop box. I wish helix still made them. Jeff also put lights in the cages that's why you see quite a few cords. If you get a chance give me a call and if not have a Merry Christmas.
