Cycling questions

sun_king Dec 20, 2006 08:41 AM

Who here cycles their boas for breeding purposes? And if so what temps do you drop down to in daytime and night time. I have had no problems breeding when not cycling but have had many people tell me it is best to cycle them if I am going to breed them.

If your snakes are breeding without cycling then why change it,do what works best for you.I personally never cool my boas I lower their light cycles and take them off food then introduce the male into the females enclosure a few weeks later. This method has worked great for me and I think they dont produce as many slugs this way (just my opinion).

From what I have heard it depends on ssp. BCC breeders...at least all that I have spoke to say...it is a must. BCI breeders it varies. I have only breed one year so the way I do things may have been a fluke but I slightly lower temps and introduce the male and I basically cycle the lights inside my other animals cages to coincide with the lighting here in Northern CA.

Are you coming to Daytona next year? If so you will need to swing by my place to see the collection. It is great only being an hour north of Daytona.

More than likely I won't this year. I want to go to a venomous show and that probably will be Chicago....not too mention I have only stayed in Chicago for an hour at the airport and would like to check the town out. I also may not be able to go anywhere with a few things I have planned this year.

Who knows though, I may just make it out there.
