thanks for the info. I am just not sure how to deal with heat tape. I am going to have to learn, as the hatchling rack that I made needs heat tape.
thanks again for the info

this is what I am going to use this year. Right now it is my brumator but all I have to do is turn the thermostat up to 88 and it becomes an incubator. As far as working with heat tape, it's not hard at all. Check out MGreptiles.com and there are good instructions for how to do it. Matt will even wire it for you if you know what lengths of wire to use for your rack system. He is very good to work with and will answere any questions you have if you call him at the number on his site.

Pic of incubator with critter cages. Just fill with dampend vermiculite and leave the tops off and treat it as you would any other incubator. $40 for the cooler, $8 for each critter cage(holds 4), $30 Big Apple thermostat (don't need the expensive ones for this), $15 for the length of heat tape and wire needed. (altogether about $120 but everyone needs a cooler now and again and the critter cages can be used later as feeding bins or to house hatchlings as well, the thermostat can then be used for your hatchling rack after everything hatches also.

Hey man,
88 is bit too high.
I would shoot for around 80 to 83.
Hotter can be more detrimental then cooler.
Cooler, even down into mid to high 70's will still work, just take longer for them to hatch.
Higher temps, especially up around 90, can be dangerous and there is speculation high temps is the culprit in kinked babies.

set it up ahead of time and try to get the temp around 82.
That way several degrees lower or higher will still be safe.
good luck and the set up looks great.

see, the only thing is, I would screw something up. Not sure if I trust my eggs to my abilities. lol. It is worth a shot, though. I could probably assemble it way in advance and see if the temps hold.
