Prince is gone. I went through my normal feeding rutien last night and when I opend his cage to feed him he was not in there. My breeding is done for now as he was the only breedable male I had. We searched the house but did not find him. I must admit I have been very busy and it has been a few days since I last stired hium up so I could have been gone from anytime in the past 3-4 days. Darn it this is the 2nd snake in as manny weeks I have lost. Last week when I got home I found my Cal Kings lid slightly opened and he was gone.

I have found the sure fire way to find a lost snake is to replace it. I lost my lavender het hypo male a few months ago, searched everywhere and gave up, so I bought a new lavender het hypo male. The VERY next morning I found the missing snake!

Sorry though, I HATE losing snakes that way!

I hate loosing them as well. I have lost several through the years and the good thing is some of them have turned up in the most off the wall places, However on that note there are several I have never found. Bottom line a lot more were never found than those that were found. I am hoping for the best since this was my only breedable male but my hope is very low considering how long he could have been gone. Most of my past lost snakes tht I have found have been found coiled up ontop of or close to the mouse cages "I guess hunger over rides geting away" However I now keep my mouse enclosures in the garage so that wont be posable. Maybe I should bring one of them in for a week or 2 and see what happens

That is FunnY!!!!

A helpful thing may to put a heat lamp down low, as the snake might come to heat. Another would be to place food. I caught an escapee by accident when I had my feeder mice in the same room as the snakes. The metal bars were just wide enough for the snake to get in, but when it gorged itself on all the pinkies, it couldn't get out. I knew something was up when the parent mice were all agitated and would not go anywhere near the nest container!!

put some food down low. Remember, even if you check in one place, check it again. Kathy Love suggests using flower or tooth pics to track where the snake is moving. Also, I place a towel under the door of the snake room if anyone gets out.

If all else fails, adult snakes have a tendency to curl up and brumate and then come out in the spring.
Good luck

If all else fails try a mouse pad. I know that sounds bad but vegetable oil and mineral oil gets them off of it very well. I found this out about 5 years ago when I lost a speckled king hatchling. I found it a year later stuck to a mouse pad!! It was healthy and had grown very well. I lived across from a lumber yard so mice were in abundance with one stuck to the pad he was stuck on. I just rubbed vegetable oil to the sides and belly and gently was able to get him off of it in about 15 minutes. So you could try a mouse pad with a f/t mouse/pinkie stuck to it and see if he finds it.

Hey Man,
I know it sucks. I had one of my male emoryis het albino escape last week.
I have had several escapees over the years and haven't had the best of luck finding them.
I check the room and if I don't get lucky I don't spend too much time looking.
If they show up they show up, if not there's not much I can do.
There are too many avenues for escape here at casa de Draybar.
I did get lucky and have pippin return after a couple of months.

Another thing that has helped me find escapees is checking the room they escaped in about every 15-20 minutes after midnight/ 1am, until you get tired of doing it. I have found many of my snakes between one and three. lol. Have the room dark and either fip the lights on for a minute or look around with a flashlight. You would not believe how many snakes I found this way. I use this technique along with all the other tricks, but most important is the towel under the door to stop them from getting from room to room.

He is pretty nice isn't he?....lol
Pippin is a normal motley.
Let me rephrase that...he is a natural motley, there is nothing normal about him...lol
He is from Bayou Reptiles.
I picked him up at show a couple of years ago.
I walked by their table, happened to see him in his little deli cup and had to have him.

Pippin is beautiful, or should I say handsome? Very nice snake. Your right, nothing normal about him.
