Neodesha Repairs

vegasnake Dec 20, 2006 05:28 PM

I already posted this in the Cages forum but I know alot of you use Neodeshas for yout hots and I thought some of you may have soem advice. thanks
I have a friend who has 3-36"neodesha cages with glass fronts. They are some years old and have been used for large pythons and they have cracks in the plastic rims along the front and bottom as well as the tracks are cracked. I can have them for $100 and I'm wondering if they can be repaired and whether this is a good deal? What sort of adhesive or glue do I use that will make them look new again?

My first thought is a couple of thin coats of fiberglass resin.

I haven't tried fiberglass resin, and I'm not sure it would adhere to ABS plastic very well, which Neodesha's are made of.
However, over the years I have used Liquid Nails adhesive with great, long lasting results.

The original "Ranger" and "GlassTechnic" cages were made of fiberglass, and they were unbreakable! Neodesha used their "design" (slanted-front) and were very successful for many years.

Oh man, I bought one of those Ranger cages back in 1978 with my first boa constrictor. Those cages were the best!!

Matt,
I agree. I still have about 10 Rangers, and maybe 4 or 5 GlassTechnics. Those cages were/are unbeatable!

Oh, one more thing,
I love the colors!
Aqua Green for "non"hots and red for "hots!" LOL!
