A couple of "Project Breedings"

thebigsquease Dec 21, 2006 11:35 PM

This is a pair of Labyrinths that were purchased as CH 2004's. I know it's been done before, but I want to see what happens when you breed two Labyrinths together. These two look almost identical to one another, but are not related.

This pair, the male is a proven Black Back. He sired four black backs in 2006. I have him with this real light reduced pattern female. Will be interesting if anything pops out.

And lastly. An experiment. I placed two male pastels with two adult females, that I had cleaned an hour earlier. Washed out their cage, replaced the paper, and put in a new deli cup. Almost sterile enivorment. No breeding behavior was noted. At least that night.
The next evening, I placed the two males in with two other females, that were not cleaned. One tub had a shed skin and spilled water spots, the other tub had dried blood (meal) and urine stains. Messy.
I placed the males in the tubs, and left them.
I returned two hours later, and took this picture. Both pairs were locked up.
Does this prove or disprove anything? Jury is still out, but I believe a "lived in look and smell" is an important part of breeding.
