motley questions...

laramax219 Dec 22, 2006 11:07 AM

I have owned boas for about 6 years now, but i am just now getting into the whole morph thing. ive done a lot of research and i have a pretty good basic morph collection started now. I'd kind like to breed for something that isn't just another albino or something though. I'm really constidering getting into motleys and trying to get some colored motleys... albino motley, sunglow motley and so on... Do you guys know of anybody who has a project going like this? Ive looked all over the web and found close to nothing as far as colored motleys. Why has this not been expanded on? or is it just that its still the early stages of the progects and they havnt quite hit the "scene" yet? Who sells the best motleys? i want to start with a really nice quality one, but i really dont want to spend over about $4000. Thanks guys.

There are already albino and sunglow motleys... you don't see them (im guessing) because.. who would want to sell them? All you need is a motley het albino bred to a sunglow, voila!

There are colorful Motleys out there but they aren't under $4000. There are Albino Motleys, Hypo Motleys and Pastel Motleys. None of these are just $4000 but prices do come down over time. Eventually you will be able to get a more colorful Motley for that price. Until then, you will have to pay more than that for the more colorful varieties, or make your own.

Hey,
I picked up a motley het albino from Jeremy Stone, and I am breeding him to a hypo het sunglow right now. I cant wait for the day that I come in here and see a bunch of little baby motley boas in that cage. As far as i know there arent any sunglow motley boas as of right now, but i am aware of about three or so people who should be producing them this year. But if there is already one, I'd love to see it. Thanks

I thought that there were some sunglow motleys.. But i've been wrong before! I know that Pete Kahl had at least one that was stillborn.

Motleys vary from dark animals to very high high colored high contrast ones. I and feel that because of the variances, they make an awesome snake by them selves or comboed with everything.
In my opinion you can't get better than a motley

happen very early next season, I might even introduce them this summer just for fun.

Both are just slightly early to breed now. Male is of age at 18 months (but is a bit small due to conservative feeding/purposeful slow growth) while the female would be slightly early at 2 yrs 8 months or so (if I remember correctly). She hasnt quite got that adult thickness yet.

Those are fairly old pictures as well. I'll take updated pics of the pair soon.

Here's my attempt at making colorful Motleys. These are my Harlequin Orange Tail Hypo Motleys or Hotleys for short. This is the male.
