What to do? MEAN snake.

rugha Dec 22, 2006 02:03 PM

I am sure others here have had or HAVE the same problem I currently do. A large mean retic.

Bought her as a hatchling from Clark - Tiger het alb. Was hoping she would calm down with age, but has not. She is about 40 months old and HOPEFULLY will breed soon, however she is no fun to deal with when cage cleaning time comes.

What to do? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

WJ

I bought a Clark yellowhead last year and she was a little feisty at first. I used a hook (and sometimes still do) to remove her from the enclosure initially, then gently handled her as slowly as possible. After a few months the typical cage aggresivness faded and she became a completly docile animal. I think the worst thing someone could do when taming a snake would be to restrain or pin the animal. The best idea would be to be as non-invasive as possible and when handling it, act as if your a tree branch or something. I hope that helps, I have never really encountered someone with a mean clark CB adult retic.

Cheers,
Nick
