Questions

Hi, I'm new here, and I wanted to ask a couple of questions to make sure I am on the right track with an adult Leo I got (rescued). This poor girl has been through some trama. She's missing toes, I think from low humidity causing a bad shed, and she's got a scar on her tail from who knows what.

What is the appropriate temp & humidity for this girl. I am assuming girl since it originally came from Petco. Is there a way I can tell the sex? Also, are dusted crickets & mealworms enough or does she need more variety of food? Her weight seems good to me (nice fat tail) but I want to make sure she gets enough nutrition. If there is anything else a newbie should know, please feel free to add.

Thanks,
Anna

The best way to make sure your gecko gets enough nutrition is to gutload the crickets and mealworms at least 24 hours before you feed them to your leo. It's also not necessary to dust them every time you feed.

My best advice to you is to browse different caresheets. There's a pretty good one here on kingsnake, and then you can go to geckonetwork.com. The Leopard Gecko Manual is also a good book to by; it only costs $9 at the petstore.

temps- 85 to 88 warm side, 75 or room temp on the cool. They don't need humidity except they need a moist hide for when they shed. Dusted crix and mealies are fine for a staple diet, superworms (zoophoba) also great for adults.
