blood when breeding???

bj_reptiles Dec 22, 2006 05:56 PM

hello,
i am kind of new to breeding beardies, today my male and female were breeding and when they un-hooked from each other i noticed some bloody fluid under where they were. i am just wondering if this is normal or not. this is thier first breeding season, and they are both virgins as i raised them from babys. i also tried to do a search on google for any info on the subject but came up with no answers. any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance
Bob

A little blood is normal, however keep an eye on them to make sure the blood isn't excessive. If they are not normally housed separately, be a good ideal to separate the male, this way he doesn't over stress the female with constant breeding attempts. A few 'lockups' is all that is needed to ensure several fertile clutches.
