New Iggy Not Eating

naenaechan Dec 22, 2006 08:36 PM

Before I complain about him not eating I'll give you some background.

He's a baby(about a foot long total). He was shipped from Reptile Depot(CA) to Milltown(WI) on wednesday. To add to the stress of shipping, no one was here when the people dropped him off on thrs. He stayed in the cold on our steps for about 4 hours before being rescued by my mom. Luckily my mom is a vet tech and there WERE heat packs in the box(double insulated too). She got him out onto a heat pack(covered in blankets) and put a light on him. He came around quickly and was crawling around for a while. He even ran up my BF's arm and sat on top of his head... However he's really handshy and skittish to the highest level.

I noticed today that his skin is pretty loose and when I picked him up it sat there so that means he's dehydrated. I know this is common in iggys but he's also not eating at all.

I chalk it up to stress, but I'd like to know if theres anything else wrong. Its been a little over 24 hours since he was offered fresh food(in a dish in his 45gal tank) and he hasn't eaten. We've tried to show him the food but he wont touch it.

Any suggestions? Help would be appreciated. ^.^

Thanks in advance.

What temperatures is he being kept at? What humidity? Are you leaving him alone in a room by himself or staring at him all the time?
