my savannah monitor lunged at my aluminum tape measurer a few weeks ago, this caused a brown spot on her snout, no blood tho
i put some neosporin on it
lately i have seen her standing against the cage wall, trying to reach the floodlight, the cage has a screen top, i think this had not helped
and then last week i fed her two live mice, the first she ate quickly head first
the second mouse she ate tail first, so it was biting her while she was eating it
i do not know whos blood it was, but just as the mouse disappeared into her mouth, blood sprayed over the cage walls, and I could see som blood in my savannahs mouth
i could see a fresh bite on her snout, but it was on top of a older healing wound, ugh,
and now she gets dirt all over it, i clean the dirt off somewhat and apply neosporin, but she always gets it dirty, and today i found her trying to get to the floodlight abehind the top mesh cover
sometimes i think some of the dirt she gets on her nose is maybe a scab, but some isn't, cuz its moist and comes off easily
both my enclosures have top screen covers, i always cover them wood/cardboard/seal off the sover with packaging tape...
but i just replaced the front screen with plexiglass, the tops are where the cages open and its more complicated, so i haven't gotten to it, but i think she is cold and trying to get closer to the light above the screen top
i just got an IR thermo pen, heh, its got their basking spot in the low 90's, surface temp =(
in Nov i stuck my digital thermo on the their basking spot it said 115-120F
bah, long story short, i think shes cold and need new solid tops?
congrats if you read this far, hah.
thanks.
