pyro egg question

Dfrieden Dec 24, 2006 04:04 PM

Is it possible for a snake to produce eggs early winter? My neighbor had a pyro which he bought about 2 months ago and then lost about a month ago was cleaning the cage out and found about 17 eggs in its cage! I dont think the pet store ever kept it with a male and don't understand how this happened so early. Is it normal for pyros to lay eggs this early? They dont look old at all. If she was kept with a male before could the eggs be fertile? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I would say so, but if they look good after this long, they should be hatching soon, possible late cluch??? Keep us informed.

I think it would take 3 or 4 female pyros to produce 17 eggs at the same time..

Southern Az pyros normally lay 5 eggs per clutch and multiclutch. North Central az pyros can lay as many as 14(that I know of)

I do agree, its very questionable for it to be pyro eggs. But its possible. Hatchum and find out. Cheers

So i went to see the eggs and there were over 20! I was a little skeptical so i asked if he had kept anything else in there and he said he had kept a pair of bearded dragons in there for an hour while he cleaned the cage. I am guessing that the bearded dragon had the eggs in the small amount of time they were in there. I'm a little dissapointed but oh well. Does anyone know anything about bearded dragon eggs? How big are they? These were a little bigger than a quarter. I think it's too late for these too hatch but could another clutch still be laid? Thanks for your comments.
