Alright, my ackies still haven't burrowed on the topsoil/sand/vermiculite mix (50/25/25, but I may have messed up when I was measuring it out). They seem to recognize it as usable, since they tried to start a burrow once and have made a burrow under a rock and under the slabs of bark in there. I think that adding the extra half-bag of sand to the warm side of the enclosure would make it more usable for them.
My question is, that since my female is on her way to being gravid (I think), would it be better to try changing the substrate, or to just leave them alone? I don't want to stress her out a bunch while she is gravid, but I want to provide her with proper nesting options. I am stuck...
