Post pictures of different localities

fishr Dec 24, 2006 04:54 PM

I love garters and although I haven't had one since I was... uh... well we'll just say it's been probably closer to 15 years since one has been under my care.

Besides the typical Eastern Garter, I'd really like to see pictures of others' collection of the different localities of these guys. I think people forget that there is a large world out there with some very interesting and very striking color patterns of these guys.

Soo.. this is your chance to show off all your garter specimans! Post away please!

Thanks!

OK, I'll go first, even though I have just a WC Eastern Garter(or so I'm told), but she (atleast I think she's a she, lol) is my first garter and I love her and I wanted to share her pics!

I live in Northeast Ohio, and I got her in the woods by my house!

I have a pair of 05 California red sideds (infernalis). Great little animals. The color doesn't show very well - the dorsal strip is light blue. I also have an Oregon red spotted that I need to take a picture of and post later.

yes, very fiesty. But great eaters!! All that striking comes in handy when theres a pinky in front of them.

Here is my 04 female Oregon Red Spotted Garter (concinnus). I'm in need of a male if anyone know of one.

hey there ... NICE redspot where are you located ??? I have a young 1.2 and perhaps my male might be up to "the task" mid/late 2007 ... if we're local.

Here's an eastern I caught at Salt Lake State Park in Ohio this past October (the snake was released after being photographed).

Awww! That snake looks the most like my snake from any type of garters that I've seen. Mine is very, very similar. When I first found her I was almost conviced that she wasn't a garter, because I couldn't find any snakes that looked enough like her.

Glad I've finally seen one!
