KNBC (Los Angelas, California) 21 December 06 Zoo Gators Get End Of Year Scrub Down - Cleaning Annual Tradition At Japanese Zoo
Shizuoka, Japan: A group of alligators in Japan got a special year-end treat this week: a good scrubbing.
It's a tradition at Atagawa Tropical and Alligator Garden in Shizuoka.
At the end of each year, zookeepers empty and clean the alligator pools and scrub down the gators.
After the pools were drained Wednesday, the keepers washed the backs of eight Mississippi alligators using scrub brushes with long handles.
The gators weigh about 550 pounds each and measure as long as 12 feet.
