Rack system questions...

ninjalo Dec 24, 2006 10:01 PM

I've been looking into getting some of the Vision CB70 racks. I have a few questions before I go ahead and buy something though. Is it necessary to use one thermostat per rack or can you use one thermostat for multiple racks? How much heat cable do you get with their racks? If you have used Vision racks, would you recommend them? Also, any suggestions for other racks will be considered.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Joe

personally im using the animal plastics rack and i love it! easy to assemble and works great. if you buy a rack system from animal plastics or vision you can use one helix system for a few racks. i would suggest using 1 helix system for the same rack system not two different ones. you just need to find out how much watts each rack uses and use the reccomended wattage for your helix. hope this helps and keep us posted on which rack you buy.

I do actually have 2 of the Animal Plastics racks, the sterilite model for 32qt. or 15qt. tubs, and I am very pleased with those racks. The reasons I was considering the Vision racks are because the AP racks I want are too large for shipping and because the Vision racks seem to be a slightly better value for the money. Basically I just want to get a rack with bigger tubs for the adults and to free up the AP racks for the babies. The thermostat I use for the racks is by Ranco that I got with some cages I ordered from Boaphile Plastics(which I no longer use) and have had no problems thus far. Do you add ventilation holes to the tubs with the AP racks? Other than that I guess I got all the answers I was looking for, 2 Vision CB70 racks, 1 Helix, no problems right?

Thanks again for the help,

Joe

P.S. might as well share some pics of my animals

You can use 1 Thermostat for multiple racks as long as they are the same rack with the same heat setup. You will need to make sure you don't exceed the wattage of the Thermostat your using.

I have a Vision Hatchling rack and love it.

I have a CB70 and I just got a new rack for Christmas. It holds 20, 15 qt. tubs or 10, 32 qt tubs. I add the black sides to the racks for that secure feeling. I also have 5 boaphile racks all on one Herpstat 2 thermostat. The room is on a Helix thermostat. The Herpstat 2 is like having 2 thermostats 1 controls the Boaphiles and 1 controls the Vision racks.
The Vision racks are an open system, the Boaphiles are a closed system. I add holes to the Boaphiles tubs for added ventilation. I don't put any holes in the Vision tubs. Those Visions are a great value. I hope this helps and Merry Christmas .

What are the typical weights of your bp's you put in your Vision 15qt. Also, does the 15 qt. accommodate any other sizes (32 qt.)

Thanks Man
