...a small one,but not for very long...Savs sre not the biggest of the monitors but a 4'-5' monitor that weighs 15 lbs. needs some room...our female (?) is barely two years old and is already 3' long and 6 lbs. we have her in an 8x4x4 for now and she'll get a larger one next year after we move...

Savs average 3-4'. They occasionally get bigger. I would prepare for a 4' animal, and go with a 4x4x8 cage. Actually it doesnt have to be this tall. Savs, at least the ones I have had, arent crazy about tall limbs and whatnot. Plus it is a little harder to get a good ambient temp in a tall cage.

First consider, this is a guess, but a very educated guess.

From your discription, over three feet in two years. That is a male. Females rarely grow over three feet, or even near three feet. Then consider, females start to lay eggs in the 22 inche area. How that relates to three feet is, 99.99% of females have died of ovarian complicates or laid eggs long before they reach three feet. Sadly 99% have died.

Considering yours reached that size in two years, not fast and not slow. It means its under decent support. Which again means if it was a female it would have undergone reproductive efforts.

So without even seeing your monitor, Its most likely a male.

Then of course you showed pics, which indicate but does not guarantee its a male.

So if I were a betting man, I am not. Ok, I will bet a small amount. I would call it a male.

Now compared my reasons to your reasons for calling it a female, what are they, by the way? Good job and keep it up. Cheers
