Blood in the Urine?

enyoenyo Dec 25, 2006 05:05 AM

Hi,
Have no vets in the area to treat rattlers but can get the meds I need for treatment. Treated w/pancur, baytril, and flagyl still has blood in the urine. Snakes is only 2 years old. Does anyone know what this may be and what to treat with?
Thanks,
Bill

Might be parasites. Take a sample to a vet to find out!

Hematuria (blood within the urine) can be caused by a variety of issues. However, you indicated the treatments you have provided, but siad there is no veterinarian within your area. I would like to know what dosages of each medication were administered and how such were administered, as the improper dosage and administration of such can lead to hematuria, especially if administered to a dehydrated specimen, which will further cause nephritis.
In short, drive if you must, but get your snake to a veterinarian well versed in herpetofauna...

Good luck,

Jeff
