A christmas series, the caudoleni

FR Dec 25, 2006 12:55 PM

I posted a short time ago that one of my females was gravid. Here is a nesting series.

This was yesterday mourning. The female started her burrow by the waterbowl. Enjoy

This is a first time breeding and the female laid 3 large eggs.

When I took the group out, I noticed the other two females were now gravid.

You can see from the group pic, that its very hard to even tell which one laid eggs only a few hours earlier.

The upper left female is gravid, the far right female(ziggie) is gravid. The center is the male. The bottom female just laid.

I mention that because I often hear how hard reproduction is suppose to be on females. Its funny, but I do not experience that to be the case at all. Its a normal function they can accomplish without stress or deteriment to the female. Unless your not allowing them to proceed in a normal way. That is very hard on them. But thats about you and not them. Cheers and enjoy

Darn we are killing our lizards!
Hers a funny story Frank, kind of deja vue!
These eggs have been nested on the 12-05 by this female, she will nest again within a few days, she seems to nest every 30 days or so, not my fault I just keep her happy nothing more. This is all normal reptile behaviour, but what’s funny and sad at the same time.

Apparently I am killing my lizards, it’s not normal for females to have so many eggs, and it’s no good to hatch them in 75 days when normal incubation is 175, also I keep them way to hot and I am supposed to spray them and use forgers and UV bulbs, oh and I am supposed to treat them for parasites.

Guess I will reread the agamid book?

Nice photo sequence!
