Thinking about getting a Kingsnake

RavenSkyfire Dec 25, 2006 03:02 PM

I've been seriously thinking about adding a Kingsnake to my very small collection. I currently own two cornsnakes(male normal motley and an unsexed Okeetee). I've got an empty 30 gallon that is just sitting doing nothing and I was thinking about getting a Black Mexican Kingsnake to go in it. I still need to set the tank up so I'm not looking to get the snake right away. But I can't seem to find anyplace around me that sells them. Can you guys recomend anyone who sells quality Black Mexicans? Also, in the mean time while I'm setting up the tank, can you all give me any tips on keeping these snakes? From what I've read so far the care isn't to terrible differnet from cornsnakes. Anything would be appreciated!!

John at Cherryville farms is a really good guy and I'm sure he could help you out. Rick from Renegade reptiles should have them too.

Yeah, I was just looking at Cherryville Farms. Seemed reasonable priced too. I will check out the other place that you mentioned also!

Thanks!!!

Your more than welcome.

You might want to check out nokturnal tom's webpage. Last time I checked he had a few MBK's left. Very good looking snakes I must say and great customer service! Also you might want to check with mark lucas, he might have some left. Both people have ads in the kingsnake classifieds right now. Good luck and your making a good choice getting a mbk. If you cannot find one for sale I would suggest looking into Brooksie kingsnakes. They are just as awsome! At least in my own experiance! Good luck

Yup- Tom Stevens is the man for MBK's among others.

I got a pair of MBK's from him this year- they're awesome, and he's a great guy!

well, since I don't plan on breeding anytime soon(atleast I don't think I'm planning on it) I don't care if it's a male or female. I' was looking at Tom's Snakes and I think I will be emailing him today to talk to him about his snakes. I was also looking at Cherryville Farms and thought that I would email them also and see between the two if I could get my hands on one of those MBK. Hopefully soon I'll have one and I can show off lots of pics of it!!!

I'd go for an Eastern King, for the most part they are very mild and have great personalities, not to mention their awesome colors and patterns..........

Hasn't arrived yet but I just bought a female from New Age Reptiles - www.newagereptile.com/index.html

I think I got their last female of 2006, but I think they still have some males.
