Rackin' it up..

blueselaphe Dec 25, 2006 07:25 PM

Ok,
I think I am going to build both racks and cages. As the time for me to re-deploy home is very close I have to finalize my plans so I can give the wife some price quotes.
My last question on racks before I start to build:
I a rack with no sides on it, kind of like a rat rack but with shelves. I am thinking this will work for me sence I am going to be useing good hides and belly heat. This set of racks will be for adult kings and corns. The rack I saw was made of one of the plastics, i didn't read in to it.. It was on the jungle habbitats web site. Will this work, will it retain heat well enough? I am going to make it out of 3/8 ply and 1 x 3 or close to that... Thanks, Blue

If your talking about sides like these http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=22&de=466941
they work fine. I have built many racks out of melamine with sides like that. I never saw the point in having a full side. All it does is add weight and with open sides like that they are easy to move around.
