questions on racks for kings....

Toyota85 Dec 26, 2006 01:58 PM

So I am looking at buying a rack for my small collection of growing kings. I was on the animal plastic website and saw their economy plastics rack. Anyways I was wondering if their tubs would be big enough for adults kings. The tubes that fit into the 6 shelf rack is 15q "17x11x6" and 32q "23˝x17x6". Now I know some will say well it depends on what type of kings your looking at putting in there. Well i am looking at putting cal kings, mbk"s and brooksi kings. Also was wondering if that would possibly house a adult ball python comfortably? Again I have not bought it, but it seems like a good price and was just wondering if it would fit my needs? any help is appreciated. Thanks.

i have that rack from ap and i love it so much. i have some brooks kings housed in 32 qt tub in that rack. one of my larger male brooks is housed in a 41 qt tub. to answer your question yes you can keep your kings in this rack, 32qt is most common use with most kings, milks and corns. i use a 15 qt tub for a young snakes up to 24 inches as a grow out tub.

I believe AP makes that rack for 41qt sterilites as well. I prefer that size for my kings and corns.

That would be cool for the 41q, I didn't see it on their webpage, I will have to check and see. Would the 32q suffice for a ball python as well? I have been thinking of aquiring a ball as a pet, so was just curious.

I may have been wrong about the 41qt racks but I could have sworn that I saw them on the site. Wouldn't hurt to email or call them to inquire. I have spoken with some people on the ball forum who say the balls do well in the 32qt. I would think as long as they don't get to big it should be fine. I do have one female that is well over 3500 grams that makes a 41qt look too small and since she is fairly active for a ball I placed her in a larger cage. All of my male balls are in 41qt's.

How well does it hold the heat? Also if i buy it, is it ready to go for heat? all I got to do is plug it in? and lastly does it have wheels? or is it pretty light weight? Thanks

they hold heat well and it's light to me since the rack has opening sides and back. i think you can add wheels for another $20 something dollars. you have to routie the heat cable in yourself but no wiring work. ap also offer flexwatts heat tape too if you wanted that. whatever you get from ap i know you would love it. i am planning on getting another one myself soon.

They have a page for their 41 qt tubs. Just click on the Sterilite section and they are under the "Sterilite 1860/1960 Series" link.

I keep my adult cal kings in the 32 qt. tubs and they work just fine. I love my AP rack, and will definetely be getting more in the future for my growing collection.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
