hibernation

wwwwwells Dec 27, 2006 02:59 AM

My lizards have been in the cooler for 4 weeks today. Another 2 to 4 weeks to go. I did wimp out and decided to take out a vestigium pair to see if they will breed with only 4 weeks of cool down. I have lost lizards in the past during hibernation and didn't want to risk it with this pair.
I'll keep you posted on their progress.

I hear ya Will, I would have yanked them out too! I will be just starting to brumate next week, heats off now, UVB goes off next then I will put everyone that will brumate into a container for Jan/ Feb. I hate it, did I say HATE IT ??

I have a beautiful yellowhead male come out of it weird last season, never has been quite back to himself. Seems slow. I have been sort of nursing him along all season.

I 'm being very selective on WHO brumates. I will keep most of my yearlings up, older guys, and some slim wc's.
