That is a baby Racer, Coluber constrictor. If from the Miami area it is probably the everglades subspecies. I bet he's full of spunk!

I concur with Chris. I would say that is an Everglades Racer(Coluber c. paludicola). As adults their dorsum coloration is usually slate bluish, with a pale gray-blue belly. They also have the reddish eyes! They are not a subspecies of the black racer, they are actually a subspecies of the Blue Racer(Coluber c. foxii) of the north. If you hold onto him let us know if you make any progress! I owned an adult a few years ago and he was nothing but trouble lol!!! He never ate and remained very aggressive! They are beautiful snakes though. Happy new year, William Huntsman
