Very cool. You don't often see them that dark. Black Rats are definately one of my favorites. Here's one I found in Ohio earlier in the year.

Thanks. I found this one right in front of my apartment (of course that was two apartments ago. . .) on September 25th, 2004. It was a yearling at that time, and has only darkened the slightest bit since then.

I've heard that they're always very dark around here (northern Delaware) but this past summer I found one that was sort of brownish gray, so I'm not sure what to think anymore. I've even started to wonder whether the one I found this summer was an escapee. . .
