Would you consider this a granite??

PastelDreamMorph Dec 28, 2006 01:16 PM

I would really appreciate some of your opinions on this weird looking male.I was at a friends looking at this dark granite looking male and HAD to have him lol.
My friend wanted a pastel female so I said what the heck.
He is VERYYY dark and has a grayish green peppered clear belly, dark flames and a broken neck stripe in the shape of a Y and a grayish purple wash to his face.
He is also NOT in shed in these pics and the tail by the cloaca is always that pink color
I would just like some opinions on whether he would fit into the Granite class??
Here is the pics and thank you in advance.

He looks like a granite to me buuuutttt I am in no way an expert.

What I remember of granite markers are: Spot in the stripe behind the head (in your case, the Y shape mark), black speckling on the light brown spots on the sides (yours has this), and a clear belly (again, yours has this).

So to me, it'd be a granite.

Here is the best way to tell if you have a true Granite.

I would say possible Hypermelanistic, looks very dark. Most Granites are a bit darker, but that snake looks exceptionally dark. I have a snake, female, that looks similar. I got her to breed to my Pastel YB male, thinking she looked granite in pics, and she kind of does, but looks darker than a normal more than anything. Similar to yours???

Not in the classic sense...it is pretty though!!!!

I see the granite markers on the side but the head is different. Just for the record this is a very loose term. We don't really know "what" it is exactly(granite)...but we have a few things we look for.

Similarities but it could be its own thing....

I proved him genetic a couple years ago and he is now breeding a couple of his daughters.
May not do anything but make more granites, but ya never can tell.

I would like to say thank you to those who replied.
I think this little male will just fall into the dinking project rack and just try and line breed him and see IF there is anything to him.
I personally think the dinking projects are the MOST fun
