Brumation ?

I have a question about brumation, My garage not getting colder then 55-65. Is it cold enough for the pit's and the rats?

That's perfect. 65 isn't too warm as long as they see no light and it does get cooler from time to time. The room I do mine in averages around 60 and it works. And I had a pair mate this summer that I didn't put down at all. The darkness is the key.

Fasting and darkness are the key ingredients to brumation IMHO. Last year, my room was sometimes getting into the low 70's and none of my pits had any problems.

I would mirror what the others said as 65 being cold enough. If your animals have good body wt going into it. The problem with many garages is that the temps fluctuate alot from night time lows and daytime highs. Again just make sure that they have good body wt going in and keep their waters fresh. You have to to work with what you have.

Thank you for the information, My garage stay in the 55-65 range. I do have open window with a fan trying to get the garage a bit colder. I'll put the snakes tubs in a close cabinet to block the light (from the window).
