Does anyone here have any experience with the Canon A540? If so could you please post some macro pics or other closeups and post your experience with it good or bad.

As cameras go, point n shoots aren't the greatest for macro pictures, as they don't allow you to focus invariably.

I just switched from an A510 to a XTi, so i'm pretty baised. :P

an XTi? Can you post some pics? Whats the price range? I don't mind bias as a matter of fact tell me why you like/dislike it.

The Canon Rebel XTi. It's their new version of the XT, which they upped to, well, $888 with the kit lens after tax. My Dad already had the Canon 100mm macro lens (400$), so I just use that. I mean, it's a huge investment, but that's what I like to do. There are better cameras, which also scale with price, and there are other ways to go of course, but I like Canon, and already had lenses.

All macro pictures -

I have a ton more stuff at http://criticalphotography.deviantart.com if you're interested. Cheers!

I'm leaning towards a Canon A540. I'm not really sure how much I'll use the macro anyway. I'd prefer to have more depth of field. I can crop my snake pics and get pretty good results that way. All of my pics are done with a really cheap (free with my Dell computer) Kodak sureshot.

These aren't the best pics but they not bad either for such a cheap camera.

I hear ya, I used my A510 through Europe, Mexico, New York and a few other trips. They're awesome little cameras.
