When a tortoise has an Upper Respritory Infection, what is the best way to treat it?

Does it need the vet trip?

On average, how much does that usually cost?

Cost varies. If you haven't taken it to the vet yet, you're probably not sure that it actually has a URI.

I'm actually pretty sure it has a URI, considering he is wheezing, he stayed out in the rain overnight, and he has thick mucous comming from his mouth after his baths.

Thanks though.

To accurately diagnose a URI, the vet will have to take a few x-rays. That, on top of the cost of the visit and the medication you will need will probably run you around $200

These symptoms do not necessarily indicate a pathogenic infection.

You would need to go to a vet to know for sure (unless you can culture and analyze on your own).

good luck.

Andrew,
Make sure you ask about the experience your vet has with reptiles. In the area that I live, there aren't many that specialize in reptiles. Good luck.
