Hello all,
I picked up a few young Reeves a week or two back. They are ~2" SCL. They are CBB. Water is at 74 degrees ferenheit, basking spot is 85 degrees at its warmest point. The basking spot is very easily accessible for the turtles.
I have yet to see these turtles leave the water, and it is starting to make me concerned. For such a terrestrial aquatic, they should be spending much of their time on land. I had the water warmer before, but i lowered it to encourage basking, no luck. I wonder if they are still a bit timid and need some sort of cover on the landing?
I should also mention that when i purchased them i noticed a few small white spots on the skin of their necks that could be the beginning of a possibile fungal infection. So perhaps they haven't been basking for awhile even before i purchased them.
Any thoughts?
K!LOS
