Recomended MBK breeders

RavenSkyfire Dec 29, 2006 10:25 PM

Well my search for a Black Mexican King is still going. I emailed Tom from his website on Tuesday but haven't heard back from him. I figured that he might be out of town for the Holiday so in the mean time,I figure I'd research some other breeders. Who else would ya'll recomend? I have an empty tank that needs a snake in it soon!!!!

Tom has some nice/well started MBK's..

And, like everyone else he was not shipping till after the holidays anyway. Wait a few days he will be back.

I *just* bought an MBK from NewAgeReptile

Highly recommend them. Excellent customer service, very fast shipping, healthy snake. Well, it only arrived yesterday - but it seems extremely healthy (good weight, good toungue flicker, ate, etc.)

I do plan on waiting for Tom. I emailed him first and I feel that I have to atleast give him the chance to get back to me before I go somewhere else. I just want to cover all my bases incase he doesn't have any available by the time he's able to get back to me. As for not shipping until after the Holidays, I think it's a very good idea! I'm already nervous enough about getting a snake through the mail, I'd be a wreck if it was during the holiday rush!!!

P.S. Part of my problem with this whole getting a snake thing is that I have been looking at alot of snakes online and I now find myself wanting one of every morph of Kingsnakes and Cornsnakes, plus I have added quite a few different species to my wishlist. My next favorite snake is the Indigos. To bad that I don't have room for more, three is the limit for now!

See...that is common! You see so many awesome snakes out there, that pretty soon they ALL get on your want list!

Tom has some nice, if not some of the best, MBKs. I am sure he will get back with ya.

I've never bought from Tom - but everything I've heard about him, he is a complete class act. And not just what I've heard about him here, everywhere.

I went with the breeder I went with because I wanted a female (I have a male). I saw tom post earlier this month that he had 4.1 (4 males and 1 female). On the 26th when I had money to spend on myself, I went to the classifieds to see if he had reposted and still had the female - when I saw the NewAgeReptile post I querried, and when he responded that he had a female, I bit because I didn't know if Tom still had one, and I really didn't want to wait for 2007 clutches to get a little girl.

However - even if Tom does still have a little girl, I'm glad I bought from NewAgeReptile because now I know they too are a class act vendor, and he has other breeds I may want in the future (as does Tom).

Anyway, not only was his response fast (could have been luck - no one is on 24/7) but after his initial quote, before I even had read it, he responded again saying he found a slightly cheaper shipping option. He didn't have to do that.

He made sure he knew my night time temps, sent out the day after I paid (I paid night of 26th, he shipped on 27th) and sent me tracking, followed up to make sure it arrived OK, and the snake was packed better than any snake I've ever bought through the classifieds here. Real class act outfit. I will do business with them again (and with Tom - I want some of his stuff too, some of his brooksi stock)

-=-

Anyway - yes, herps are very addictive.
But just for the record, choosing an MBK is an excellent choice. Many people have said it before, I'll say it again - every getula collection needs an MBK. They are absolutely stunning snakes.

You can't go wrong getting one from Tom. His Mexican blacks are top notch, as is all of his animals. Post some pics when you receive yours.

Along with buying the snake, I am buying a digital camera with the sole purpose of getting good pictures of my snakes! The camera that I have now is just a cheap one that takes one good picture out of every forty blurry ones. So you all will deffinately be seeing alot of pictures once I get both snake and camera!

Here's one of the good out of forty that I was talking about. this is my normal colored motley male cornsnake (his name is Nibbles because for the first couple of weeks he thought that he was a rattlesnake)

I know that this isn't the cornsnake forum but I just don't have a kingsnake yet!

I got a baby mbk from LLLReptile a few months ago. He's jet black, healthy and eats like a monster. I was very happy. Still am. There are links to the site all over kingsnake.com
