yes, he will. as he grows he'll let you know how much he doesn't enjoy being picked up out of the water. and when he does its best not to let him bite anything hard because it could break off part of his upper hooked beak.(although it will grow back}

baby allys (freeze, stiffen up) when picked up out of their tank. anyone know? maybe they're "playing possum" like they're dead or trying to appear to be a rock or piece of wood if a predator(bird,fish,etc, grabs them.
