A few breeding questions (or feeding?)

bsleeper Dec 30, 2006 01:36 PM

Hey whats up eveyone? I just mated my het albino male to my friends normal female to get some 50% hets. My question is this though, while in the cool down phase she never stopped feeding. She just keeps eating so i keep feeding her (not power feeding) should i stop? Has anyone else ever had this happen? If i should keep feeding her about how long after her breeding should i stop offering or should i keep offering till she stops? They have been breeding off and on for about 3 days now. I guess these questions lean more toward feeding than breeding (im a poet and didnt even know it lol).

Ok i forgot the other question. I am going to be using a hoverbater to incubate her clutch the only clutch i will produce for now what size container do yous recomend? I know it is is a little (or a lot) premature to be asking this question but i like to try and stay on top of things lol gotta be ready right?

If she will feed offer her food weekly ,She will recover faster from laying. As she starts to ovulate and put on some size from the clutch you may want to down size her meals . Some people stop feeding after the prelay shed,She may stop to feed on her own. I would recommend removing the male 2 days out of the week for rest and feeding.I will be leaving my pairs together 5 days a week until the female lays cold or sheds. Most likely until march . Nothing wrong with being ready ..........Ive seen alot of people with eggs in the tub and no incubator ready. I have no experience with the hovabator so cant respond. I have read that the size is good for two small clutches max. I will be building a fridge incubator this year with flex watt and thermostat. Hope that helps, Just one opinion ..........Good luck and keep reading post! Theres alot of folks here with alot to offer!!!!!!!!!

No problem glad to help........Keep us posted on his progress and what works and what didnt.......Or maybe hes just off feed for a while. Keep offering weekly in case he decides to feed.
